Twisted Electrons MegaFM vs Yamaha TX81Z – Compared Side by Side with Identical Settings

with No Comments
Had a few questions after my last video on the Twisted Electrons MegaFM how it compares to other FM synths, mainly the classics from Yamaha as well as the Digitone. Don’t have a Digitone but I do have a TX81Z, so I decided to do a side by side comparison of how they sound.

I set up the MegaFM to control the TX81Z via a mapping in Midiflow on the iPad that translates the CC’s sent by the MegaFM into the Sysex messages the TX81Z wants.
You can download the Midiflow mapping here: www.drillville.se/miklo/post/megafm-midiflow-mapping/
It should also be compatible with DX21/DX27/DX100, and could probably quite easiliy be adapted to other 4op synths if necessary (FB-01, TQ-5…).
Hope you find this useful!
